Historical Josei Anime to Depict 13th Century Mongol Empire


Acclaimed animation studio SCIENCE SARU is producing a new historical josei anime titled "Tenmaku no Jadougal" (A Witch in Mongolia), scheduled to air in 2026. The series, based on the manga "Jaadugar," will tell a dramatic story set within the Mongol Empire's imperial court.


A Tale of Two Women in the Mongolian Imperial Court


The anime's plot centers on a captive woman from Iran who is brought to serve the Mongol Empire during the 13th century. There, she encounters one of the wives of Ögedei Khan, the empire's second great ruler. The narrative will explore the powerful and unconventional bond between these two women, whose relationship is poised to disrupt the political dynamics of the court.

The project was officially announced on December 27th. The original "Jaadugar" manga is published by Akita Shoten. The production committee, which includes Tomato Soup, is overseeing the development of this highly anticipated historical drama anime.
